About Murano Glass

Everyone who knows and likes the Italian art, without doubt knows the Murano glass as one of the most famous glass art in the world: the name of this art comes from the Venetian island of Murano; we can sure indicate the beginning of this glassmaking art from the tenth century, and for this reason the sole original Murano glass is intended only the glass produced in Murano.
You have to consider however that Murano glass is very popular all over the world, and for this reason you can find Murano glass factories everywhere.

It is not difficult to find a lot of different objects made in Murano glass, because it is possible to give different figure and color to this kind of glass: we can find lamps, key-holder, goblets, glasses, windowpanes, murrine, vases, bottles and many others objects in which the glass is important. We have also to remember that the Murano glass is available in a lot of colors, because it is possible to use the different glass row, and depending on the presence of sodium, nitrate or arsenic you can give a lot of different color and opaque aspects.

Murano glass is the best form of artistic expression with the glass, because is a very antique art, in which we can find a synthesis of different historical periods: it is believed, maybe on considering Venice the biggest trading port with the middle-East and far-East, that the art of Murano glassmaking originated from Rome, Asian and Muslim influences.
To maintain a very long tradition, there are in the Murano island a big number of glass factories and artist studios.
