Murano's glass manufacture

One of the most curious and interesting aspect of the Murano glass, without doubt, is the manufacture proper of this kind of glassmaking art: it is the knowledge of the artist, in the glassmaking of Murano glass, the reason why a Murano object can be a good piece of art. In effect, when we look at a Murano glass object we can find in it, obviously depending on its genre, a great range of colours, some different glass patterns, that the Murano artist can make during the manufacture, in some different ways that we are going to discover together, on reading this article.

The most fascinating moment, during the glassmaking of the Murano object, is when the artist brings the glass in the fire, modelling it in different ways, depending on what it must be done: in fact, you can imagine that this glass comes from nowhere, when this takes a form from the movements done by the artist. And the most important aspect of the Murano's glass manufacture, is properly the movement of the hand during the transformation of the glass with the fire: it can be simple to do, on viewing the artist, but in reality you have to improve your ability with many years of work.

The different techniques of the glassmaking art of Murano that usually the artists use are these: the Murrine, which consists in use different coloured liquid glass, that put all together make the layering effect; the most well known effect done in this way, is the Millefiori Murano. The others Murano techniques are Filigree, glass engraving, lattimo, submersion and many others, that we cannot indicate here in a small and simple list. But can be interesting write something about the submersion, in Italian Sommerso: you usually find two or more different contrasting colours, with a layering transparent effect.
